What are points for?

The Societies of Spontaneity are supported by the donations of people like yourself as well as corporate sponsorship. Where does that money go? Back into the community. The primary method of which is through our innovative "Interropoint" system. This is how it works:

  1. Regularly accesing the website earns you a small number of points.
  2. Attending a free event and registering your username with the Event Coordinator earns you a ton of points.
  3. You log into your account and access the Interropoint Shop. 100 Interropoints = 1 US Dollar
  4. The points shop is not like a regular online store. Rather than picking items to spend your points on, you pick the organization of your choice you want the dollar equivalent to go to.
  5. The organization receives the donation and you receive a warm feeling inside. Win Win!

What's the difference between points, rankings, & medals?

By participating in offical SOS events you can earn points and medals. Points are depleted from your account as you use them to give back to the community. Medals/Awards however are permanent and stand as your testament to being spontaneous. Your ranking is the level of your prestige in the SOS community. There are various rankings and can be based on overall and recent point earnings and # of awards earned.

Why am I getting multiple emails from you?

Open invite events are posted here as well as on Facebook (and sometimes MySpace and other sites) as a way to bring in new members or to simply offer an activity to the general masses. If you RSVP for an event on MySpace, Facebook, AND here you will end up with 3 emails for every announcement related to that event. If you are registered for an event here there is no need to register on a Facebook event page as well. This does not mean you shouldn't join the Facebook group (and MySpace and IE Global groups) to show your support, see videos, and connect with people, but join the GROUP, not the Facebook event invitation unless you don't mind getting double emails. If you would like other people not on this website to get the invitation you can join the Facebook event page and forward the invitation that way; just remember you'll get double emails.

How do I delete my account or hide my profile?
BostonSOS membership means getting site updates and event invitations via email as well as the right to post comments on pages and access to send messages to other members. If you don't want to get emails or invitations or to be reachable to other members the only option is to cancel your account entirely. If you'd like to delete your account, simply go to http://www.soscities.org/my-account/deleteProfile.html and click Delete. Any comments you posted will be changed from your name to "Anonymous".
